One killed, five injured as mini-bus turns turtle

JAMMU, May 7: One person was killed while five others were injured when a mini-bus rolled down the road on Jammu-Akhnoor road in Domana area of city outskirts.
“The mishap occurred today at about 6.15 am due to the alleged negligence of the driver, who lost control over the steering of the rashly driven mini-bus bearing registration number JK02BD-9322, which was on its way from Mishriwala to Jewel Chowk”, a police spokesman said.
He said that six persons were injured in the mishap and they were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where one of the injured namely Monti Pandoi (24) son of late Krishan Lal, resident of Domana, expired at 11:25 am. After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Other injured persons were identified as Sukhvinder Kour (45) wife of Teja Singh of Purkhoo, Shiva (19) son of Tolu Ram of Purkhoo, Taro Devi (65) wife of Laj Ram, resident of Garhi (Purkhoo), Vishal Singh (30) son of Sher Singh of Domana and Ashok Kumar (50) son of Prem Nath of Purkhoo.
A case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and the mini-bus was seized while efforts were on to nab the driver, who fled from the spot of crime.
