JAMMU, Jan 25: One person was killed while eight others were injured in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider were injured when their two wheeler bearing registration No JK02BJ-0648 collided with a tractor (having registration No JK02BE-7203) at Bajalta falling under the jurisdiction of police post Sidhra, this morning.
Both the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment, where the pillion rider namely Des Raj (50) son of Dina Nath, a resident of Old Rehari succumbed to his injures during treatment. The injured bike rider has been identified as Onkar Nath, son of Shanak Chand, a resident of Bajalta.
The concerned police has seized the tractor and arrested its driver after registering a case under relevant Sections.
A road mishap also occurred at Narwal near KC Hyundai, where a speeding car hit a bike and left its injured its rider, Joginder Kumar (41) son of Ram Dass, a resident of Bishnah and pillion rider, Inderpal Singh (30) son of Neetu Singh, a resident of Poonch.
At Bantalab in Nagrota area, a J&K SRTC bus hit a car this evening resulting into injuries to two occupants of the car identified as Pardeep Dutt (34) son of Kaniya Lal and Anoop Kumar (37) son of Moti Lal, both residents of Jagti (Nagrota).
A person was also injured in a collision of two bikes near Shaheedi Chowk. The injured has been identified as Rajiv Gupta son of Subhash, a resident of Shaheedi Chowk.
In another road mishap that took place at Kunjwani, a pedestrian identified as Charanjeet Singh (60), son of Balwant Singh, a resident of Kunjwani suffered injuries when he was hit by a scooty.
A 23-year old girl identified as Nazia Parveen daughter of Parvez, a resident of Sanjay Nagar and a fifty-year old man namely Darshan son of Gyan Chand, a resident of Canal Road, received injuries when their respective two-wheelers got slipped at Subhash Nagar and Bhagwati Nagar, respectively.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. Meanwhile, the concerned police have also taken cognizance in all the cases.
