JAMMU, July 24: One person was killed and one another got injured in a road mishap in Chowki Choura area of Akhnoor.
According to a police official, a speeding bike collided head on with an Army vehicle at Pradya Morh in Chowki Choura area this afternoon. He said the bike rider namely Anil Singh (25) son of Surinder Singh, resident of chowki Choura died in the mishap.
He said as the driver of the Army vehicle applied sudden brakes to avoid the mishap, another bike which was coming behind the Army vehicle rammed into it, resulting into injuries to bike rider, Manpreet Gill son of Manoj, resident of Gurdaspur (Punjab).
The official said that the injured bike rider was shifted to Accidental Hospital, Chowki Choura for treatment while the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completion of postmortem in the same hospital. Akhnoor police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
