JAMMU, July 26: A pilgrim from Banaras was killed while eight others were injured when a mini-bus in which they were travelling turned turtle at Tanda in Akhnoor, early this morning.
According to a police spokesman, some pilgrims from Ramnagar (Banaras) were returning from Shiv Khori in the mini-bus bearing registration number JK20-6326 when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle, resulting into on the spot death of one pilgrim namely Manoj Kumar (30) son of Mangru and injuries to eight others.
All the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor, where three pilgrims who had received minor injuries were discharged after first aid while five others with grievous injuries were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment. The body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem.
A case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and further investigations started.
