One killed, 8 injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Feb 18: One person was killed while eight others were injured in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a 38-year old man identified as Rohin Mahajan son of Vijay Mahajan, a resident of Ward No 1, RS Pura, got serious injuries when the car (bearing registration No JK02K-2970) he was driving hit by a speeding bus (having registration No JK08-9699 at Rohi Morh Gadigarh, this morning. On getting information, a police team led by PSI Vishal reached the spot and shifted the seriously injured Rohin to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The Satwari police has registered a case under relevant sections and seized both the vehicles involved in the accident. The driver of vehicle has also been arrested.
In another incident, seven persons including six tourists from Punjab were injured when the auto (four-wheeler) bearing registration No JK02V-1152 in which they were travelling turned turtle near Peer Kho, here this evening. The injured include driver of the vehicle, Ashwani Kumar (45) son of Munshi Ram of Peer Mitha, Vijay Kumar (52) son of Niranjan Dass, Balram Raj (58) son of Chuni Lal, Davinder Mohan (48) son of Sham Lal, Tarun (8) son of Ajay Kumar, all residents of Jalendhar and Naveen (60) son of Davinder and Samuel (22) son of Ajay Kumar, both residents of Ludhiana. They were immediately shifted to GMCH for treatment.
A three-year old girl namely Nanika daughter of Prem Pal, a resident of Bishnah, also received injuries when a bike hit her at Gangyal.
