One killed, 7 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, July 12: One person was killed and seven others were injured today in separate road accidents occurred in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a Cruze car bearing registration number JK02BE-9700 driven in rash and negligent manner by one Babar Azam son of Mohd Azam, resident of Chohalla, tehsil RS Pura, district Jammu, from Simbal towards Chohalla, when reached near Tanda fell into a canal along the road as driver failed to control the speed.
He said the mishap occurred at about 6:30 AM and driver of the car died on the spot. “The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of SDH RS Pura and after postmortem, handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station RS Pura and investigation started,” the official added.
In another accident at RS Pura, three persons were injured when a speeding car hit a bike at RS Pura. The injured persons were identified as Gian Chand (70) son of Jagat Ram, his son Ghari Lal (50) and Vishal Kumar (18) son of Ghari Lal, all residents of RS Pura.
All the injured were rushed to Government Hospital, RS Pura from where they were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu. The RS Pura police had taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, two-bike borne youth were injured when their two-wheeler was hit by a tanker belonging to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Chinore. The injured were identified as Rajesh Gupta (58) son of Shiv Ram Gupta, resident of Bakshi Nagar and Vijay (40) son of Mangal Singh, resident of Khandwal. They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment while Chinore police had taken cognizance of the matter.
Two persons were also injured when a Scorpio car (bearing registration number JK02AD-6465) in which they were travelling from Jammu to Ban Toll Plaza (Old Road), plunged into a gorge at Ban when driver lost control over the vehicle.
One of the injured persons was identified as Irfan Bashir son of Syed Bashir Ahmed, resident of Pulwama while identity of the other was yet to be ascertained. Both the injured were rushed to GMCH Jammu for treatment while Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
