One killed, 20 injured in accidents

KATHUA, Mar 28: A teenager died after the car he was driving fell into a 20 feet deep gorge at Martha Nagrota near Basholi.
The driver was identified as Kulwinder Kumar, 19, son of Somraj of Palli More. Police said the driver lost control on steering while negotiating a curve and car bearing registration number JK02U 4259 fell into the deep gorge resulting into the death of the driver.
The Basholi Police has registered a case under Section 279/304.
Meanwhile, 20 passengers including the conductor of the matador bearing registration number JK02 U 4259 were injured after the driver lost control over steering and the vehicle turned turtle on road at Jandour. The matador was on way from Hatli to Kathua via Lakhanpur.
Police said the vehicle was in fast speed and the driver fled after the accident. The Kathua Lakhanpur road remained closed for a long time as traffic police failed to remove the vehicle from the road.
The injured were admitted in District Hospital Kathua for treatment while the conductor of the vehicle who sustained serious injury was referred to Amritsar for specialized treatment. He has been identified as Mohinder resident of Hatli More. The Lakhanpur Police has taken cognizance of the same.
