RAMBAN, July 7: Police here arrested a narcotic smuggler and recovered 70 kg Poppy Stray from his possession.
Cops at a checking point near Shan Palace in Ramban signalled a Truck bearing registration number JK-22-A-7997, coming from Kashmir, to stop and during its checking 70 kg Poppy Straw was recovered.
Driver of the Truck disclosed his identity as Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Chaki Haji, Shopian.
In this regard, a case in FIR No. 241/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
The recovery was made by a Police team led by Inspector Nayeem Mattoo, SHO Ramban under the supervision of Dy. Sp HQs Ramban, Om Prakash and under the overall supervision of SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
