One dies of COVID, cases fall below 400 in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Aug 1: One person died of COVID-19 while daily positive cases came down from yesterday’s 700 plus to below 400 in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Lone COVID fatality and 122 fresh cases were reported in the Jammu division while 275 positives were registered in the Kashmir valley.
A 78-year-old man hailing from Subash Nagar in Udhampur district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 taking Corona toll in Jammu region to 2343 and Udhampur district to 148.
Among 122 fresh COVID positive cases reported in Jammu division, 80 were logged in Jammu district, eight in Ramban, seven each in Rajouri and Samba, six each in Udhampur and Kathua and four each in Doda and Poonch districts.
Reasi and Kishtwar districts didn’t report any fresh cases.
Jammu and Kashmir now has 4551 active positive cases including 1622 in Jammu division and 2929 in Kashmir.
In Jammu region, Jammu district has highest 1005 active cases followed by 128 in Doda, 89 Kishtwar, 83 Rajouri, 74 Poonch, 72 Udhampur, 64 Samba, 54 Ramban, 46 Kathua and seven in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 15 new positive cases, all in Leh district.
Ladakh now has 119 active cases—104 in Leh and 15 in Kargil.
