RAJOURI, Oct 20: A driver was killed while six passengers injured when a Tempo Traveler vehicle and a load carrier met head on collision near Sunderbani on Jammu-Rajouri highway this evening.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 6.15 pm at Thandapani when the Tempo Traveler No. JK02AT/ 4725 was on way to Rajouri from Jammu while load carrier No. JK11D/ 3226 was moving to the opposite direction. Seven persons including drivers of both the vehicles were injured and were rushed to Sunderbani hospital where load carrier’s driver was declared as dead.
The deceased driver was identified as Mohd Tufail (29), son of Mohd Hanief, resident of Rajouri. The other injured undergoing treatment at Sunderbani hospital are- Abdul Gafoor, son of Abdul Aziz; Razia Begum, wife of Abdul Gafoor; Bilal Ahmed, son of Rashid Ahmed; Nazir Ahmed (Tempo driver)- all hailing from Darhal, Chuni Lal and his wife Parmod Kumari from Jammu. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
