One dies, 14 hurt in road accidents in Poonch

JAMMU, Nov 9: One person was killed while at least 14 others were injured in three separate road accidents in district Poonch today.
Official sources said that one person was killed while two others were injured when a tractor trolley was rolled down in Sathra area of Mandi this evening. The tractor trolley driver along with two labourers had gone to the river site for fetching stones. While coming back the trolley rolled down at the hilly Kutcha track. While one person was killed on the spot the two injured were removed to Mandi hospital. The deceased was later identified as driver- Mohd Rafiq, son of Sattar Sheikh, resident of Sathra.
At least eight persons were injured when a bus No. JK12/3654 which was on way to Mandi from Jammu over turned on the road at Potha near Bypass Chowk in Surankote area at around 11.45 Am today. The eye witnesses said that the vehicle was over speeding and the driver lost control over it. All the injured were removed to Surankote hospital where some of them were discharged after providing first aid/ treatment by the doctors.
The injured are identified as Ali Mohd from Degwar in Poonch; Nazir Hussain , Ulfat Begum and Salima Kouser , all from Jarran Wali Gali in Surankote; Manjeet Kumar-32 from Bihar, Mohd Farooq from Sathra ( Mandi), Rakhseem Kouser from Loran and Shabir Ahmed from Bella, Mandi.
Meanwhile, four persons were injured when a Tata Sumo No. JK02AH/7440 which was on way to Mendhar from Poonch rolled down into a gorge near Kuwarian, in Krishna Ghati sector this afternoon. The injured were removed to Poonch hospital for treatment.
They were identified as- Nazarat Hussain (14), son of Sajjad Hussain, resident of Kas Baladi in Mendhar, Zameela Bi (35), wife of Altaf Hussain from Darra Dullian in Mendhar, Aqib, son of Altaf Hussain from Darra Dullian and Rakeeza Bi, wife of Sajjad Ahmed, resident of Mendhar. One of the injured was later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
