One COVID death each in Valley, Leh; 261 test +ve in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, July 9: Jammu and Kashmir today reported one COVID casualty and 261 new cases while a woman succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory of Ladakh where 12 new cases were registered.
Jammu region didn’t report any casualty today but recorded 115 positive cases.
Maximum 34 cases were reported in Doda district followed by 26 in Jammu, 16 Reasi, 10 Ramban, nine Kishtwar, eight Poonch, six Rajouri and two each in Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts.
As against 102 fresh cases, 115 persons today recovered from the virus in Jammu region leaving active positive cases to 1491. Jammu region has total of 1,20,658 cases. Of them, 1,17,042 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2125 casualties.
Meanwhile, a 55-year-old woman hailing from Thiksay died of COVID-19 in Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
Twelve new Corona positive cases were reported in Ladakh-six each in Leh and Kargil districts.
Ladakh now has 20155 Corona cases including 135 active positive, 19815 recoveries and 205 fatalities—147 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 146 cases of COVID-19 and one person succumbed to the virus.
Those who tested positive today include 59 from Srinagar, 14 from Baramulla, 10 from Budgam, 04 from Pulwama, 11 from Kupwara, 12 from Anantnag, 05 from Bandipora, 14 from Ganderbal, 15 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 70,569 positive cases including 832 deaths and 69,088 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,382 including 280 deaths and 22,884 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,713 including 22,328 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 13,924 including 13,599 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,924 including 165 deaths and 13,599 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,217 including 15,922 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,369 cases including 9,191 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,719 including 9,479 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,169 including 10,915 recoveries and 116 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,565 including 5,497 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 197,626 including 193,588 recoveries and 2,229 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,300 including 1,809 from Kashmir division.
With 304 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 310,630, which is 97.60 percent of the total cases.
And COVID-19 vaccination in Jammu and Kashmir is going on in full swing as nine districts have already completed 100 percent vaccination of all above 45 years of age while three more districts are set to achieve the feat in next few days.
Kupwara district in Kashmir is the worst performer in terms of vaccination.
Data also revealed that among nine districts which have completed 100 percent vaccination of all above 45 years of age, five are from Kashmir and four are from Jammu division.
The districts which have completed the vaccination of all above 45 years of age include Shopian, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Samba while as three districts which are near completion include Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama.
The data showed that 98.40 percent people above 45 age group in Anantnag, 97.70 percent in Kulgam, 93.10 percent in Pulwama, 74.30 percent in Srinagar, and 64.54 percent in Kupwara have been vaccinated in the Kashmir division.
In the Jammu division, 79.13 percent in Udhampur, 85.47 percent in Kuthua, 81.78 percent in Ramban, 79.27 percent in Doda, 85.24 percent in Kishtwar and 74.25 percent in Samba have been vaccinated so far.
In aggregate form, around 92 percent above 45 years of age have been vaccinated in Jammu and Kashmir so far.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has already missed two deadlines to vaccinate all above 45 years of age.
