SRINAGAR, June 28: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Tara Chand today said that Government is contemplating to register and issue on-line building permission and birth certificates to the applicants in a time bound manner and asked the concerned officers to ensure early implementation of the plan to make the system people friendly.
Deputy Chief Minister was reviewing the progress of implementation of e-governance programme in Municipal Corporations and Municipal Committees of the State at an officers meeting here today.
Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Suresh Kumar, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N.Qasba besides officers from Traffic, Fire and Emergency Services, PHE, Revenue and LAWADA were present on the occasion.
Mr. Tara Chand asked the officers to create necessary infrastructure in their department so that the e-governance programme is implemented more effectively for convenience of general public. He said that this would bring efficiency in the processing of applications being received in Municipal Corporations and Municipal Committees for granting building permission and issuance of birth certificates and hand minimize the hardships of the people.
Deputy Chief Minister said that introduction of Public Service Guarantee Act in the State was aimed to provide services to the people in a time bound manner. Asking officers to act quickly on the applications received for granting of building permissions and issuance of birth certificates, the Deputy Chief Minister said that applicants can know the status of their applications just accessing the web portal of the SMC, adding that system would save time and money of the applicants.
Earlier, Principal Secretary gave a power point presentation of the project and asked the officers to work in close coordination to make availability of on-line services a reality.
