Omar’s stand on Guru a threat to national integrity: Nadda

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 17: Taking strong exception to the recent statement of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who had voiced concern over the manner in which Afzal Guru the mastermind of Parliament blast was hanged, BJP national general secretary in charge J&K, JP Nadda termed it as a threat to national integrity.
Addressing a one day Party activists’ meet here at K K Resorts Anand Nagar Bohri today, Mr Nadda said this statement reflected the mindset of the Political Party which Mr Abdullah is heading. The Party for minor political gains has put the national interest at stake by making such an unfortunate statement, he added.
He said in protest against the remarks of CM and other host of issues including rampant corruption, disparity with Jammu and Ladakh regions and problems being faced by PoK, West Pak and Kashmiri refugees, BJP has decided to ghearo State Assembly on March 14.
Making a dig at Congress for remaining mum on Mr Abdullah’s statement, Mr Nadda said this showed how greedy they are to remain in power. He also condemned the quietness of Congress over the statement saying the Party should clear its stand as its quietness means that it does not value the decision of Supreme Court and president of the country.
Accusing the Government of rampant corruption, he said it is the cause of “mis-governance” which also leads to security lapses. He said along mis-governance the security is also taken lightly in the state.
Mr Nadda, while taking on Chief Minister who had advocated for revoking of AFSPA from some parts of the state, said it is totally impracticable.
Accusing Coalition Government of regional discrimination, the BJP leader said that Jammu and Ladakh regions still faced discrimination in the field of development and employment. “The regional disparity is on the peak in the state while the democratic rights of the people have also been usurped ’’, he added.
He said Jammu and Ladakh regions are deprived of their due share while the money earmarked for the developmental projects in Kashmir goes in the pockets of coalition leaders. Crores of rupees have been spent on cleaning of Dal Lake under Dal Development Project but it is unfortunate that Dal has not still been cleaned. “How can Dal be cleaned when the leaders themselves don’t have clean heart’’ he added.
Accusing the coalition of usurping the democratic rights of the people, he said 73rd and 74th amendments of Indian Constitution have not been implemented in the State, which were meant for empowerment of Panchayts and local bodies. “While the amendment was implemented in all other States, of the country why not in J&K,” he asked?
Nadda, while showing his Party’s total solidarity with PoK refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 as well as Kashmiri migrants and West Pak refugees of 1947, he said the problems of these refugees were still unresolved.
Addressing the Samelan, BJP national general secretary Organisation Ram Lal urged the party workers to work with more dedication to throw out the corrupt Government in the State. The workers have to maintain contact with the masses and take the policies and programmes of the Party to every nook and corner of the State.
Accusing the State Government of being knee-deep involved in corruption, he said BJP has an added responsibility in the State and they have to prove themselves as the watch dog of peoples’ interests.
BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma, newly elected Leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member, Dr Nirmal Singh, MLA Sham Choudhary, Party general secretary, Kavinder Gupta, vice president Bali Bhagat and Lalit Moza addressed the meet.
