SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah this evening visited Lalla Ded Hospital to take stock of the situation and functioning of the Hospital after fire incident here last night.
The Chief Minister interacted with patients, doctors and the attendants and got first hand appraisal of the incident. He directed the management to make all out efforts for making necessary medical facilities available to the patients.
Earlier, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din flew from Jammu to Srinagar to take stock of the situation at Lalla Ded Hospital.
The Minister, despite being stationed at Jammu in connection with Annual Darbar Move, was in constant touch with the hospital management, district administration and Police during the night till the fire was brought under control.
The Minister appreciated the efforts put in by the hospital administration and keeping the operation theatres and labour rooms functional despite the fire around.
He expressed his satisfaction that the hospital records,drug store and other stocks were safe and no one was injured.
The Minister appreciated the GMC administration, hospital management,faculty and staff of the LD hospital who put in their best efforts in saving patients and kept the operation theatres, labour rooms and laboratories open to patients.
Mr Taj was told that despite the fire, 10 deliveries and 20 caesarians were conducted at the hospital. He was told that 86 new admissions were done during the last 24 hours, 25 of them during the night itself, soon after the fire incident.
He was told that hospital administration constituted different teams to tackle the situation and concluded the rescue operations without any loss.
A police spokesman said fire broke out in the causalty Block of LD Hospital, Srinagar yesterday evening, resulting in partial damage of the block. Fire was later brought under control. (AGENCIES)
