In his letter addressed to Administrative Secretary of Estates, Hospitality & Protocol of J&K Government, Omar wrote that he was allotted House G-1 in 2002 in his capacity as Member of Parliament representing Srinagar constituency and after his election.
As CM in 2008, he wrote that the place was renovated and the complex of G-1 was used as official CM residence from October 2010 onwards, where he continued to remain in occupation of this accommodation, as the rules allowed for him to retain an accommodation in Srinagar or Jammu and he chose to retain an accommodation in Srinagar.
“Consequent upon the change of entitlements for former CMs on Jammu and Kashmir some months ago, I now find myself in unauthorized occupation of this accommodation, as no attempt has been made to regularize the allotment to me on security and other grounds,” the letter read.
“This is a situation that is unacceptable to me. I have never held on to any Government property I was not entitled to and I have no intention to start now”, he added in his letter to the Government.
Meanwhile taking to Twitter Omar Abdullah wrote: “My letter to the J&K administration. I will be vacating my Government accommodation in Srinagar before the end of October. The point to note is that contrary to stories planted in the media last year I received no notice to vacate & have chosen to do so of my own accord.”
Pertinent to mention here, the Government has not issued any notice to Omar ordering him to vacate the accommodation that he is occupying as of now.
