Omar takes jibe at Centre over exemptions made in demonetisation scheme

SRINAGAR : Taking a jibe at the Centre over exemptions made in the demonetisation scheme since it was rolled out, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today asked if anyone remembers how many modifications were made in the last less than a week.
“Does anyone remember all the exemptions/modifications that have been announced to the #demonetisation scheme since it was rolled out,” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
However, he appreciated the Centre’s decision to allow withdrawal of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for weddings.
“This is a far more elegant response compared to earlier one “ghar main shaddi hai par paisa nahin,” followed by people laughing & sniggering,” Mr Abdullah added.
Meanwhile, reacting to a report that bribe of Rs 2.9 lakh was paid in new Rs 2,000 notes in Gujarat, he said that didn’t take long. (AGENCIES)
