SRINAGAR:National Conference president Omar Abdullah questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for missing the ‘Iftar Party’ hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee last evening.
Mr Modi has never attended or hosted any Iftar party when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat and now as Prime Minister of the country, Mr Abdullah said.
“Why can’t the PM just say that his religious beliefs preclude him from attending an Iftar party? I’d have far more respect for honesty, Mr Abdullah posted on microblogging site twitter. However, senior ministers of the Modi cabinet, including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley attended the Iftar party.
Last week, rumours were spread in the Kashmir valley that Mr Modi is hosting Iftar Party in Srinagar and will also join people on Eid-ul-Fitr festival. However, the report was later denied by the BJP. (AGENCIES)
