Omar prays for Mufti’s health, alleges PDP behind cancellation of NSA talks

SRINAGAR: Praying for good health of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, working president of the opposition National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah alleged that arrest of separatist leaders forced cancellation of National Security Advisor (NSA) level talks between India and Pakistan last month.          Reacting to media reports and rumours about the health of Mr Sayeed, Mr Abdullah taking to micro-blogging twitter said,
“Rumours about Mufti Sb’s ill health are rife. I hope they are wrong & pray to Allah for his long life & good health. Allah shafa bakshay.”
However, he took a dig Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti for her statement that her party always favour dialogue process between India and Pakistan.
Mr Abdullah said, “Who are you trying to fool Ms Mufti? You people detained the APHC leaders to facilitate the cancellation! @jkpdp.”
Mr Abdullah said this reacting to a tweet by Ms Mufti that “Indo-Pak NSA level talk cancelling was bad for J&K: Mehbooba Mufti (PDP).”
State government had put under house arrest or took into custody almost all separatist leaders, including chairmen of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chief Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Kahn chief of National Front (NF).
The separatist leaders were invited by Pakistan High Commissioner for a meeting with Mr Sartaj Aziz, National Security Advisor (NSA) of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before India-Pakistan meeting.
However, they were released, barring Mr Geelani, after few hours. Later, Mr Shah was put under house arrest in New Delhi while other separatists did not travel to New Delhi.
Later, the NSA level talks were cancelled after Pakistan deviated from Ufa declaration and invited separatists for talks despite objection by India. (AGENCIES)
