SRINAGAR : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said time has come for paradigm shift from horizontal expansion of residential houses towards vertical constructions.
This, he said, will help relieve the pressure on land in the congested cities and towns besides providing sufficient dwelling units to the citizens with modern facilities.
Laying the foundation of Shehjar Apartments at Bemina, the Chief Minister said this will open doors to future living in the city under the concept of cluster housing units.
Mr Abdullah said the prestigious project of constructing Shehjar Apartments taken in hand by Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) would go in a big way to shifting the concept of horizontal residential apartments towards the vertical system of construction to accommodate more families in less space.
The Shehjar Apartment project envisages construction of 532 residential apartments of 2BHK and 3BHK status. The design consultancy for the high-rise project has been provided by the Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO). (AGENCIES)
