SRINAGAR:  Lashing out at Twitteretti criticising Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor for naming their newborn baby Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the only people who get to decide a baby’s name are the parents of the baby and the ones they ask.

“The only people who get to decide a baby’s name are the parents of said baby & the ones they ask. Why should opinion of the rest matter,” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), tweeted.

Congratulating Saif and Kareena for their newborn, Mr Abdullah prayed for the happiness of their family.

“So congrats to Saif & Kareena and a long happy life to their baby son. May #TaimurAliKhan have a happy & healthy life,” he added.

Twitteretti have slammed the star couple for their alleged insensitive act hurting the sentiments of majority people of the country by naming their son Taimur, the Turko-Mongol conquerer which invaded Delhi in 13th century.

However, Taimur actually means ‘Iron’ in Urdu. (AGENCIES)
