Omar back on twitter, connectivity in J&K returning to normal

NEW DELHI :  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has come back to twitter after a gap of almost two weeks, as the virtual connectivity is limping back to normalcy in the flood-hit state.
The Chief Minister’s last tweet on micro blogging site appeared on September 7 and after that, all the communication links were snapped by the flood, which kept submerged most parts of the state for 10 days.
“Limited, very patchy internet access, not able to access anything. Those who want to write can mail at gupkar@gmail.com” was the first tweet from Mr Abdullah when the internet connectivity got restored.
The Chief Minister also sounded upset by the criticism he has been facing over the mishandling of the situation by his administration at the time of crisis. He appealed to the media to be fair to him while putting him in dock. “Finally, an appeal to the media. criticism is welcome but pls try & get govt point of view too as it’s only fair” (sic), Mr Abdullah commented.     “Will try to tweet updates when possible, have been giving regular updates to AIR,” he said.
The civil administration was attacked from all sides and the government in the state was accused of remaining defunct, when the entire state was reeling under the flood situation while the Armed Forces took full command of relief and rescue operations.      The young Chief Minister did not react to the furore generated over the remarks of equally twitter savvy politician of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the Kashmir issue. Usually, Mr Abdullah had been sharply reacting to Bilawal’s Kashmir-jibes.
Junior Bhutto is in the line of fire on the social networking forums also, his own favourite territory, ever since he boasted of taking every inch of Kashmir back from India. (AGENCIES)
