Omar asks Centre to explain delay in relief for flood victims

SRINAGAR:
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today asked the Centre to explain why there was a delay in giving relief package to flood victims as the State was now under its direct rule.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote, “Dear Govt. Of India, now that you are directly ruling J&K, can you please tell us why package for flood victims relief is being held up?”
BJP during its election campaigning in Kashmir valley had criticised Omar-led State Government over alleged misuse of funds provided by the Centre for flood victims.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had even said that the Kashmiri people he spoke to urged him not to give the relief money to the State Government, but instead make arrangements to transfer the money directly to the victims,” accounts. (AGENCIES)
