Officials rushed after reports of deaths

JAMMU, Jan 5: Following unconfirmed reports that some children have died due to Pneumonia in a remote village of Pancheri in Udhampur district, the State Health Department this evening rushed officials to ascertain the facts in this regard.
According to unconfirmed reports, some children fell seriously ill in remote village Nikki Naar under Pancheri block due to intense cold conditions there and died before medical treatment could be provided to them.
When contacted, Director Health, Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania said that there was no confirmation of such deaths so far.
“We also received some reports in this regard following which Chief Medical Officer Udhampur and Tehsildar Udhampur separately rushed to the spot for ascertaining facts in this regard. While the Tehsildar has reported back that no such deaths took place, contact with the CMO could not be establishing for a feed back,” he added.
