JAMMU, Feb 20: PHE Employees United Front (Jammu Province), has alleged that some officers of the Jal Shakti/ PHE Department are forcing daily rated/ consolidated workers to go on strike.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, senior members of the United Front including Ravi Hans, Rajinder Singh Taj, Navdeep Singh, Mohan Lal, HS Chib and Rashpal Singh said that salary of the PHE daily wagers was released by the Finance department for the month of September-October 2020, but unfortunately some Executive Engineers are not releasing that salary in their favour, forcing daily rated workers to come out on roads and launch agitation.
The members of the Front pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir Administration has decided to place Jal Shakti/PHE Department under Municipal Corporation but they have not clarified anything about their pending wages of about 70 months. Who will make the payments JMC or the PHE department, there should be clarity on the subject, they added.
They further demanded that Government must regularize PHE daily wagers who are waiting for the last over 25 years. A definite policy should be framed for the regularization of these workers as assured by the Government time and again.
The United Front decided to start indefinite strike and dharna at the Office of Chief Engineer PHE Jammu at B C Road from Monday ( February 22).
