JAMMU, Sept 28: SaMaPa Digital Baithak Series entered week 13 with enthralling Odissi & Hindustani Classical vocal recitals.
The series is being presented by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) under the aegis of the music legend and Saint of Santoor, Pandit Bhajan Sopori and music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori running exclusively on SaMaPa’s Official YouTube Channel.
The 25th session featured Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Dr. Avinash Kumar, an upcoming vocalist with a blend of Rampur Sahaswan, Agra and Kirana Gharana Gayaki in his performance. He presented Raga Jogkauns.
Avinash commenced his recital with Aalap followed by a Vilambit Ektaal composition “Sughar Ban Paya” and Madhyalaya Bandish “Peer Paraayi”. He was accompanied by Romaan Khan on Tabla, Manish Kumar Singh on Harmonium and Rahul Chauhan on Tanpura. The introduction to the recital was presented by the eminent Flautist Pandit Chetan Joshi who gave a detailed insight to the raga.
The other session and the 26th episode of the Baithak featured Odissi Vocal music recital by the celebrated vocalist Vidushi Sangita Gosain. She commenced her recital with Saraswati Vandana “Ambuja Prabhaba Patni” written by S. Sundar Rajan and composed by late Dipak Kumar Basu followed by Geet Govinda “Sakhihe Keshimathana Mudaram” written by Jayadev and composed by late Pt. Bhubaneswar Mishra in Raga Pahadi, Champu (Dha) “Dhirare Ki Dhana Tu” written by Kavi Surya Baladev Rath. She concluded her recital with an Odissi Bhabanga “Mohana Murati Chhailo”, a traditional composition in Raga Bhairavi written by Banamali.
She was accompanied by Guru Satchitananda Das on Mardala, Suramani Ramesh Chandra Das on Violin and Murlidhar Swain on Harmonium.
Earlier, the introduction was presented by the music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori, who gave an elaborated & educative explanation of Odissi music. The Baithaks were compeered by the renowned broadcaster & anchor Sadhna Shrivastav.
