“Chatpati batein aur hot gupshup key liye dial…” “Koyee bahana nahin chalega main free hoon”. These are some messages flashed to mobile subscribers. It seems that the messages are aimed at minting money from the gullibles by promoting obscenity, indecency and immorality” What is more astonishing is the fact that this obnoxious business is not being carried by the private telecom operators but the national telecom operator BSNL. These messages are sent through some six -digit numbers asking to dial particular six or eight digit numbers. At a time when the nation is heading towards electronic governance and digitalisation, what a culture is being promoted through this business. These days the mobiles are not only in the hands of the teenagers but also in the hands of small children. What values are being inculcated to this young generation!
The Union Telecom Minister shall take cognisance of the issue and stop this immoral business. Further, an enquiry is needed to find out the beneficiaries of this obnoxious business.
