Obesity in children

Sir,
There is a well known saying that All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.No doubt being a healthy means one who is fit in its all aspects I.e mental,physical, social and psychological.
Now a days children are mostly engage in developing their mental aspect only.Due to pressure of competition and professional spirit of academic excellence ,they devoted their maximum hours of the day in fulfilling their expected desire of securing marvellous percentage in every exam and competition.
Due to burden of hawkish syllabus and other projects works ,they have not enough time for cocurricular activities and other outdoors games.As a consequence they become the victims of many health ailments. one of the main ailment which is engulfing their personality is obesity.
Generally we have seen that due to lack of physical activity problem of obesity develop in them.
However lot of other factors like overeating, junk food ,stagnant life style etc responsible for this health ailment.
This problem is more severe in cities than rural areas.
children of villages and rural areas mostly engage in some household chores and outdoor games due to sufficient playground availability. Moreover they have the habits of walking. Their schools are located at distant places and they generally walk on foot to reach their.Also the schools has sufficient space for outdoor games and other physical activities.
But in cities due to mushrooming of conjusted institutions, there is no facility of outdoor games and other co-corricular activities.
Even in their homes they generally spend their leisure time in watching video games and other indoor games.
As a result gradually they become prey of this problem of obesity.
Obesity is a very serious health hazard which invite other ailments gradually.
An obese child gradually become hypersensitive and inactive. later on other serious ailments develop automatically like stress,anxiety and depression.
So it is very mandatory to involve the children in outdoor games and other workouts. This will not improve their physical aspect but automatically a sound mental calibre develop in them.Because all these aspects of health are interdependent and correlated. Yoga practice can also helps in reducing the problem of obesity.
