JAMMU, Nov 25: A meeting-cum-protest by OBC community members as a part of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra was held in Billawar area of district Kathua under the chairmanship of Bua Ditta, senior member of the community.
Manohar Lal Tidyal, chief advisior OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra and Mohan Lal Pawar general secretary OBC Mahasabha and Oma Dutt Manhas, senior comrade of OBC Samaj were present as a special invitee of this programme.
During the protest program the speakers criticised the discriminatory behaviour of BJP Government and the J&K UT’s Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha towards OBC community. They pointed out that 27% reservation in JK-UT Govt services has not been implemented as per Mandal Commission Report recommendation. Moreover, 27 % reservation in Panchayati Raj System and in Urban Local Bodies has also not implemented here, which otherwise has already been implemented in rest of the country.
The presidents of different OBC castes and communities identified by Mandal Commission and different organizations the All J&K OBC Mahasabha and All J&K Backward Classes Federation strongly condemned the S.O.537 dated 19.10.2022 of Social welfare Department issued on the recommendations of Justice GD Sharma Commission and alleged that it was working against the Mandal Commission. This Backward Classes Commission was constituted by the Modi Government without OBC members in it.
Bansi Lal Choudhary, convener OBC Mahasabha said that in 2019 JK-UT Government implemented 10 % EWS (other than Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe and OBCs) for upper castes within 10 days in JK-UT Govt services without any commission and without calculating their population. But for 27% reservation for JK-UT OBC’s identified by Mandal Commission in JK-UT Govt services the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir Governments and the present BJP Govt made commissions and commissions since 1956 headed by non-OBCs Chairpersons and members who kept the Mandal Commission identified JK-UT OBC’s away from their fundamental constitutional rights of 27% reservation. Same is position in Justice GD Sharma Commission who has adopted the discriminatory behaviour towards OBC’s, he alleged.
