JAMMU, Aug 18: All J&K OBC Mahasabha has flayed the Government for adopting language basis reservation, alleging that it is a political gimmick of Coalition Government of the State for its political petty interests.
Addressing a meeting of the Mahasabha, Kasturi Lal Basotra, president of Sain Samaj (Barber Community), said Coalition Government in the State has made a joke with the State OBCs castes and communities identified by Mandal Commission on the issue of implementation of 27% reservation in the State Government services as per the Supreme Court judgement of 1992.
They said that the enhancement of OSC reservation from 2% to 4% is only like offering peanuts, as these masses have 45% of the total State population.
The speakers further said that Coalition Government in the State has done a conspiracy in curbing the OBC’s constitutional right of reservation by creating an artificial group of backward classes under the garb of ‘Backward Area (RBA & ALC), which includes most of the areas of Pahari speaking people, who are illegally enjoying 23% reservation in the State Government services at the cost of Mandal Commission identified OBCs.
Now the State Government has played another conspiracy by giving 5% reservation to an unidentified class under the garb of Pahari Speaking under Socially and Educationally Backward Classes for their political petty interests, the House said.
The House also appealed the vice-chairman and members of State OBC Development Board to quit in the interests of OBCs.
