JAMMU, Apr 7: All J&K OBC Maha Sabha today resolved to form a political party and field its own candidates in forth coming Assembly election in the State.
The resolution was passed during a meeting of the Maha Sabha held at Bishnah under the chairmanship of Bua Ditta Prajapati. Justice RC Gandhi was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 300 members including women attended the meeting.
The speakers said that all the political parties cheated the OBC people right from the day India got free from the clutches of the British rulers. They appealed all the members not to cast their votes in favour of any political party and instead press NOTA button to teach lesson to all the political parties.
Various speakers expressed their views on reservation for OBC in educational institutions, Government jobs and in State Assembly. They also stressed that members and chairman in J&K Backward Class Commission should be from OBC only.
The meeting resolved that a political party is to be formed by OBC Maha Sabha and its own candidates are to be fielded to contest forth coming Assembly elections.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were Tilak Raj Verma, Madan Lal Chanotra, Jagdish Raj, Ashok Badyal, Khatim Hussain and Babu Ram.
