OBC Forum lists demands

BUDGAM, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir OBC Welfare Forum in its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Ghulam Hassan Sheergojri in which the Budgam and Srinagar district body of the Forum was constituted.
The meeting urged both Central and UT Government to implement the Reservation Act /rules in respect of the OBC categories in J&K UT in letter and spirit on the same pattern and analogy as has been applied in all other states of the country.
The meeting demanded implementation of 27 percent quota for OBCs on the basis of caste and not on the basis of economy and status, verification of members of J&K OBC Advisory Board at an earliest who have been nominated two years back, making the hostels constructed for OBC functional at Jammu and Srinagar, directions be issued to authorities not to ignore the rules and directions and unnecessary harassment of the candidates applying for OBC certificates be avoided.
