Nursing home being run illegally to carry out abortions sealed

JAMMU, Feb 4: A lady doctor and her attendant were arrested for running a nursing home illegally to carry out abortions.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Satwari Police Station led by SHO Satwari Inspector Gurmeet Singh conducted raid in a residential house at Raipur Satwari.
The team found full fledged nursing home being run in the residential house by Dr Darshana Devi and informed Director Health Service.
A medical team comprising of CMO Dr JP Singh and Nodal Officer PNDT Dr Shahid reached the spot for verification of fact. A written complaint for lodging of FIR under PNDT Act was given by the medial team at Satwari Police Station.
The medical team also seized the remains of a foetus from the suction machine in the presence of Executive Magistrate and sent for FSL examination.
A large haul of medicines and other equipments used for the abortion were recovered and seized in the spot in presence of Magistrate.
Two pregnant ladies admitted in the nursing home probably for the abortion were sent to SMGS Hospital for medical check up to ascertain the facts.
A case under FIR Number 27/2020 under section 23 and 25 PNDT Act and 312 IPC Act has been registered at Satwari Police Station and the Dr Darshana Devi and her attendant Ajay Singh were arrested.
