NSUI celebrates Foundation Day with quiz competition

JAMMU, Apr 9: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the premier student wing of the Indian National Congress, celebrated its 56th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and vibrant student participation here.
Founded on April 9, 1971, by former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, NSUI has been a dynamic platform for over five decades, championing student welfare, campus democracy, secular values, social justice, and inclusive national development. It continues to inspire young minds to become conscious citizens and future leaders grounded in the timeless principles of democracy and Indian nationalism.
On this occasion, NSUI J&K unit organized a quiz competition with the special theme of Indian Constitution and Congress Ideology. The quiz aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the foundational values of the Indian Constitution.
Raman Bhalla, JKPCC working president, graced the program as the chief guest. In his address, Bhalla shared nostalgic memories from his own NSUI days and motivated the students to actively participate in student politics and nation-building.
Yogesh Sawhney, District president Jammu Urban encouraged the students by sharing valuable experiences from his NSUI journey. He emphasized how involvement in NSUI helps in developing leadership qualities and a deeper understanding of constitutional and democratic values.
Ajay Lakhotra, NSUI president for JKUT, expressed gratitude to the party chief in J&K, Tariq Hameed Karra and others for continuous support and guidance. He reiterated NSUI’s firm commitment to student welfare, and expanding the ideology of the Indian National Congress across colleges and universities in JKUT.
Over 100 students participated in the final round of the quiz competition. Anjali Majotra secured the first prize, Shreya Safaya achieved the second position while Nirmal Sharma won the third prize.
Prominent NSUI office bearers present on the occasion included- Bavanyu Bhagat, Ajmal Imtiyaz, Rahul Sharma, Jaisidh Bhalla, Kamraan Feroz, Shivam Sharma, Aryan Raina, Adnan Arif and others.
