JAMMU, July 27: The NSS volunteers of the Government College of Education (GCoE) Jammu today visited Shelter for Urban Homeless at Boria Basti near Bahu Fort and provided relief material for the inmates.
The visit was conducted on the directions of Principal of the College, Prof Aekta Gupta. The team led by NSS Programe Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal and Prof Neeraj Verma also interacted with the inmates and listened how the circumstances landed them in the Shelter for Urban Homeless.
Veena Bakshi, president of the Shelter for Urban Homeless along with Rajni and Mona Dogra apprised the volunteers about the facilities being provided to the inmates so that they lead a comfortable life. The management is also providing required medical care to the inmates and makes all out efforts to reunite them with their family members.
Corporator of the area Sham Lal Bassan was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, NSS PO said that volunteers of GCoE under the guidance of Principal are leaving no stone unturned to help the needy people in all possible ways.
