JAMMU, Mar 2: The NSS volunteers of Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu today conducted heritage tour to Akhnoor as part of 7-days Winter Camp being organized under the patronage of Principal of the College Dr Kulvinder Kour.
Flagging off the team of NSS volunteers led by Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameen, Prof Seema and Prof Neeraj Verma from the College campus, the Principal said that there is dire need to educate students about our rich heritage and the same can be achieved by facilitating their visit to such sites.
She appreciated the efforts of NSS Programme Officer for making heritage tour a part of the 7-days Winter Camp. Dr Shubhra Jamwal, while speaking on the occasion, said that motive behind organizing this tour was to encourage the students about gathering knowledge about the heritage sites and making efforts in whatever way possible to protect them.
The NSS volunteers were taken to Akhnoor Fort, Pandav Temples and Ambaran Buddhist Site where they also carried out cleanliness drive and pledged to visit more such sites in future to gather knowledge about them and act as ambassadors for their promotion.
