JAMMU, Aug 20: Up in arms against BJP-PDP Government’s ineffectiveness to act against illegal settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi immigrants in Jammu, the activists of NSF today held a protest demonstration.
Led by State president Dr Vikas Sharma, the NSF activists raised slogans against the Government and also torched an effigy of the Rohingyas, Bangladeshis in the State. They were demanding eviction of these illegal immigrants and action against the officials who facilitated these settlements.
While addressing the gathering, Vikas Sharma questioned the people sitting at the helm of affairs who facilitated power supply to these immigrants unauthorizedly and that too at highly subsidized rates.
“The Power Development Department (PDD) sanctioned as many as 7273 connections to the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis presently putting up in make shift houses at different places like Karyani Talab, Rakia Nallah, Narwal Bala, Sunjwan, Bhathindi and its adjoining areas from 2008 to Feb 2017, which speaks volume about the larger plan to settle the illegal immigrants in Jammu wherein the people sitting at the helm of affairs facilitating the same at the instance of their political bosses,” he alleged.
Questioning the criminal silence of BJP leaders over this issue, the NSF chief said that when BJP was out of power its leaders were vociferous for the cause of Jammu people but after coming to power they too have sided with the Kashmir bosses and couldn’t muster courage to oppose the illegal settlements in Jammu. He divulged that in the recent development a group of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis had reportedly managed to buy land on the outskirts of Jammu city besides raising construction on JDA lands by procuring PRCs, Aadhar Cards and Ration cards thus pointing towards a larger conspiracy behind their settlement in Dogra land.
Asking the PDD Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to immediately issue an order to snap all electricity connections illegally provided to these illegal immigrants, the NSF leader warned State wide agitation if the same is not done
