KATHUA, Nov 11: In its one-day convention, here today, National Secular Forum (NSF) passed a resolution and vowed to continue fight against the discrimination being meted out to Jammuites at the hands of Kashmiri rulers.
The convention was held under the chairmanship of State president Dr Vikas Sharma and
on the occasion, several other resolutions were also passed, including statehood to Jammu, rechristening SKUAST-J as Jammu Agricultural University and implementation of RTE in Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the gathering, Dr Vikas Sharma flayed the PDP-BJP Coalition Government for meting step-motherly treatment to the people of Jammu. He particularly took the BJP MLAs to task for maintaining stoic silence on the issue and reiterated demand for statehood to Jammu. He alleged that people of Jammu were facing worst kind of discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri rulers and asked them to get united to launch a massive struggle to get rid of all the ills.
Dr Vikas alleged that blue eyed candidates were being recruited by the PSC at the instance of State Government causing resentment among the unemployment youth. He said that in the various selection lists of the different subjects, much preference was given to the candidates belonging to the Kashmir regions. He urged the youth to stand up and ask for their right which was being denied to them by the successive State Governments.
Vikas also demanded stern action against the JU Vice Chancellor who has allegedly destroyed the institution with his authoritative style of functioning. He asked the Chief Minister and Governor to take cognizance of the irregularities being committed in the University. He also demanded rechristening of SKUAST-J as Jammu Agricultural University to restore pride of Dogras.
Earlier, three sessions were held in the convention where contemporary issues were taken up for discussion.
Among others, who spoke on the occasion, included, Dr Sukhdev Singh State working president, Papinder Singh, State vice-president, Rishikesh Rana and Pardeep Sharma.
