JAMMU, June 2: Consequent upon closure of the higher education institutions due to COVID- 19, Chetram Sharma, senior vice president of National Secular Forum’s (NSF) University unit today demanded mass promotion of all the students enrolled in Jammu University and Govt Degree Colleges of Jammu division.
Expressing deep concern over the plight of the students, Chetram Sharma said that few days back a memorandum was submitted to Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University requesting him to allow mass promotion of all the Under Graduate and Post Graduate students as relief to them given the unpredictable circumstances of the Corona virus which lead to closure of these educational institutions for the last two and half months.
“Although the varsity and its affiliated colleges have started the campaign of online teaching to the students, yet this exercise has proved to be futile due to non availability of 4G high speed network as the students reportedly failed to take full advantage of online teaching to complete their semester syllabus,” Sharma said.
NSF appealed the Lieutenant Governor for allowing mass promotion of all the students studying in the Higher Education Department as a welfare gesture in the overall interest of the students.
