JAMMU, Nov 9: National Secular Forum (NSF) has expressed serious concern over the approach of Jammu University to shield ‘tainted’ officers who were given undue benefit over the years and demanded fresh inquiry against all such officers to restore the credibility of the institution.
Addressing the media persons here, Dr Vikas Sharma, NSF state president while congratulating the Governor, N N Vohra for initiating inquiry into the favouritism, financial irregularities and nepotism on the Jammu University campus said that the University authorities, including Vice-Chancellor was shielding the corrupt and tainted officers who got undue benefit over the years.
The NSF chief said there were instances where the professors and officers got appointments well before their posts created for them.
“There is a need to conduct a fresh inquiry to identify and punish these people. The University authorities have been adopting dallying tactics to shield the officers due to political pressure. The Vice-Chancellor should come clean on the issue and take strict action against them,” Dr Sharma said.
He warned that the NSF would launch a massive agitation if the University shies away from initiating action against the officers who were found guilty in the probe ordered by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included Shafqat Malik, Aubid Hussain, Surjit Choudhary, Ravi Choudhary, Babber Batt, Reshikesh Rana, Pushpinder singh and Sukdev Singh.
