JAMMU, Apr 19: Alleging corruption in the Jammu University Colleges Development Council (CDC), in extending affiliations to some B Ed Colleges, which are still running without fulfilling the prescribed norms, the National Secular Forum (NSF) has demanded that the Inspection Committee Reports should be made public.
In a statement, NSF State president, Dr Vikas Sharma alleged that the Inspection Committee Reports on B.Ed colleges were kept under wrap and no action was taken on their observations. “The reports have clearly stated that B.Ed colleges don’t fulfill prescribed norms hence their affiliation should not be extended. But, instead of recommending action, CDC extended the affiliation,” he said.
Dr Sharma alleged that some B.Ed Colleges were illegally enrolling students and JU authorities were regularizing those because of a nexus between management of these colleges and CDC. “These things have been pointed out by Inspection reports, which also reveal that colleges were being run without regular Principals classes,” he added and demanded that all those Inspection reports should be made available on varsity website and put into public domain so as to bring transparency into the functioning of CDC.
The NSF leader urged the Governor (Chancellor of the University) to take cognizance of the issue and initiate action against those encouraging corruption.
