NSDC, Accenture to train 3,300 J&K youth for jobs

BANGALORE :  The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with Accenture will impart training to 3,300 Jammu and Kashmir youth and equip them with employment skills under the Udaan scheme over the next five years.
The special industry initiative ‘Udaan’ targets the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, who are seeking job opportunities.
NSDC will also provide additional support to them during job placement, it said in a release.
The first batch of 18 students were awarded training certificates on successful completion of the programme, it said.
“Accenture signed an MoU with NSDC on August 14, 2013, and we have already conducted four selection drives and selected 37 Udaan candidates who are already under training,” Accenture India Chairman and Senior Managing Director Avinash Vashistha said.
“The programme participants have learned new skills and have been hired by some top businesses in the country,” he added.
Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO, NSDC, said, “This project was conceived and implemented as a socio-economic commitment that would provide an opportunity for the youth of J&K to look beyond the state and benefit from the corporate opportunities throughout the country and globally.” (agencies)
