JAMMU, Mar 11:   National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) today held a   demonstration outside the office of J&K Service Selection Board Jammu to lodge protest against unprecedented delay in release the selection list of teachers for various districts of Jammu region.
The protestors raised slogans against the State Government as well as SSB and demanded early release of the selection list.   The protesting students dispersed off only after the police intervention.
Earlier, addressing the students, NPSU president Thakur Virender Singh lambasted the State Government and SSB authorities for neglecting Jammu region in the matter of various selections including those of teachers.  He alleged that majority of selected candidates in every selection list belong to Kashmir and undue preference is given to that region at the cost of merit.  He regretted that Jammu’s share is hardly 25 percent to 30 percent in all selections made by SSB.
Virender Singh particularly flayed the SSB for its inordinate and unreasonable delay in releasing the selection list of teachers whose interview were conducted in 2013.  While the selection lists of all Districts of Kashmir for the posts of teachers were released in 2013 itself,  the select list of teachers of Jammu division were withheld for reasons best known for SSB, he said.
The Chairperson SSB later held a meeting with the students and assured them that the issue would soon be settled and matter would be vigorously followed  in high court so as to ensure vacation of interim directions if any, with respect to such selections so that early release of select lists was ensured.
