JAMMU, Nov 23: Alleging discrimination with Jammu region by the Higher Education Department. Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party today said that more funds under CAPEX budget was released for Kashmir colleges.
“Recently the Higher Education Department issued a notification for allotment of the College Development Fund under CAPEX budget 2017-18 via order no. 64/-HE of 2017.
As per the notification, Rs 4113.03 lakh were released for the development of the 63 colleges of the State. Matter of astonishment is that out of these 63 colleges, 39 are from Kashmir division and only 24 colleges are from the Jammu division,” said Thakur Virender Singh, NPSU State president, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Singh said that this discrimination was of great concern as the present infrastructure of the colleges of Jammu was very poor. “There is huge scarcity of the basic necessities like laboratories, furniture, staff etc. Even after knowing all these things the Government has selected more colleges from Kashmir region,” he said and alleged that the State Government was repeatedly discriminating with the people of Jammu and after issuance of CAPEX budget, it was clear that the State Government is playing with the youth of Jammu.
The NPSU leader also grilled the BJP MLAs for their silence over discriminations with Jammu and alleged that these legislators were behaving like puppets, controlled by the PDP leadership. “Due to this lust of power and the criminal silence, BJP leaders are causing a huge loss to the people of Jammu for the last 3 years,” he said and sought to remind BJP leaders that they were elected by the people of Jammu to serve them and not the people of Kashmir.
Alleging that the discrimination against Jammu has crossed all limits during the last three years, the NPSU leader appealed all like minded people to join hands on the issue for waging struggle to get justice.
