JAMMU, Sept 17: Taking strong note on the encroachment of Perennial Nallah (Khad) and adjoining land at Village Jatwal Sangwali from NH-1 Jatwal to Railway Track, National Panthers Party (NPP) today lambasted the State Government as well as administration to allow some land grabbers to encroach the land and build unauthorized colony.
Addressing a press conference at Press Club here, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, State senior vice-president, Young Panthers and MLA Candidate from Akhnoor Constitutency, came upon heavily on the concerned authorities for supporting some land grabbers in encroaching the Perennial Nallah (Khad).
Pushvinder told reporters that locals of the area approached the concerned DC on June, 2013 who forwarded their complaint to concerned Tehsildar but no cognizance was taken even after a year of filing complaint. Then the villagers approached the High Court for the same which on June 6, 2014 passed an order asking DC Samba to ensure that no construction/encroachment over Perennial Nallah on NH at Jatwal (Samba), is made.
He said but even after the court order encroachers carried on construction work. On seeing the inaction from the side of concerned authorities, villagers once again on June 14, 2014 approached the DC, Samba, who forwarded the complaint to Tehsildar with the direction to implement the court order.
On June 23, 2014, ACR who also visited the spot and ordered Tehsildar concerned to ensure strict implementation of court orders and furnish the details of land in question. The Tehsildar on June 30, 2014 intimated DC through a letter that the land in question is Ghair Mumkin Khad and some land grabbers are trying to raise construction and change its kind of soil with the help of JCBs etc. He also told that the concerned Naib Tehsildar even after getting directions from higher ups failed to stop encroachment.
Pushvinder further told that even after the recommendation of concerned Tehsildar the concerned authorities of the department failed to stop encroachment on the said land, which clearly shows how the land grabbers and concerned officials are having hands in glove.
He warned the concerned authorities to immediately implement the orders of the High Court within a week failing which Panthers Party will be left with no other option to launch a massive protest demonstration against the land grabbers, concerned authorities and Revenue Department.
