JAMMU, July 28: The leaders and other workers of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP) today held strong protest demonstration against BJP leadership over the issue of AIIMS and blocked movement of traffic at Tawi bridge near Press Club here today.
Led by chairman of the party and former Minister Harshdev Singh and State president Balwant Singh Mankotia (Ex-MLA), a large number of NPP activists assembled near Press Club and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the BJP leadership from Jammu region and demanding restoration of AIIMS to Jammu.
The protestors expressing their acrimony over the BJP playing the politics of deceit, duplicity and betrayal with the people of Jammu region torched an effigy of ’26 headed monster’ symbolizing the draconian contingent of BJP having equal number of legislators. They vociferously raised slogans of- “BJP MLA s …Resign Karo, Resign Karo”, “Dokha-Dhadi Ki Rajneeti…Nahin Chalegi, Nahin Chalegi” and “BJP… Hai Hai”. Later, they moved to the main road and blocked Tawi bridge for about an hour. A large traffic jam was created.
Dubbing the BJP as politically fragile, Harshdev Singh demanded that both the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat should relinquish their ministerial berths as they have lost the moral right to continue for brazen treachery on AIIMS. He lambasted the duo for bringing disgrace to their official positions by disparaging the sanctity of chair by their act of bluff and subterfuge. He said that the BJP’s untrustworthy character has been exposed by the two ministers whose written assurances made to the Coordination Committee in presence of other BJP leaders for announcing the establishment of the Rs 1600 crores Premier Health Institute in Jammu by the given deadline only proved to be a hoax.
Harshdev, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yash Paul Kundal (Ex-MLA), Anita Thakur, Manju Singh, Gagan Partap Singh and others called upon all social and political organizations, intellectual forums, youth, student fraternity, lawyers and civil society to work in tandem to make the 72 hour ‘Jammu Bandh call’ a success and to further give a sustained fight in the future for all issues pertaining to Jammu region.
