NPP block president murdered in Ramnagar, workers stage protest

UDHAMPUR, Nov 1: Seeking a probe by SIT into the cold- blooded murder of Dharam Chand, SC Cell Block president Kulwanta of Panthers Party in Ramnagar constituency, the local unit of the Panthers Party held a massive protest in Ramnagar town and sought immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the most heinous offence.
The agitated workers of NPP blocked road in Ramnagar alleging it a part of a larger conspiracy against the Panthers Party leadership which continued to be threatened in the past by criminals owing allegiance to opposition parties particularly the BJP.
Addressing the gathering, Pawan Dev Singh, State secretary Young Panthers said that the Panthers Party leader was eliminated by political opponents under a well hatched conspiracy. He said that the deceased Dharam Chand who was contesting the Sarpanch election from Lehar Panchayat of Kulwanta Block had visited the Tehsil office Ramnagar on Tuesday in connection with fulfilment of necessary formalities for filing his nomination papers. He said that the very same evening, he was assaulted by some unidentified goons while he was on way back home and left unconscious in a pool of blood.
“He had multiple injuries on his head where the doctors put up 45 stitches and referred him to GMC Hospital in an unconscious state. The deceased succumbed to his fatal injuries yesterday in the Hospital without recovering from coma” said Pawan Dev.
Mansa Ram Dhoi, Tehsil president NPP said that despite a reign of terror let loose in Ramnagar by criminal elements, the local administration had given a free hand to the notorious characters in view of their political influence. He said that the terror stricken poor Dalit family of the deceased had refused to speak against the all powerful mafia in Ramnagar as the family members were fearing for their own lives. He sought impartial probe into the heinous act so as to unearth the truth.
Pushpinder Singh District president Young Panthers, while demanding a high level probe into the gruesome killing of NPP leader, lambasted the local administration for failing to address the security concerns of the party leaders.
