Notorious narco trafficker apprehended with heroin

JAMMU, Dec 8: In a drive to save the youth from drugs nuisance, Satwari and Gadigarh police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ launched by SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta jointly apprehended a notorious narcotics trafficker along with heroin worth over Rs 1.50 lakh.
As per police sources, on reliable information, teams from Satwari Police Station and Gadigarh Police Post laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 16 grams of heroin worth over Rs 1.50 lakh from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Harneet Singh alias Gunia, son of Prithpal Singh, a resident of Gadigarh, Jammu.
The arrested person was a notorious heroin supplier and with his arrest, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
Not only the police, the parents are also feeling sigh of relief with the arrest of the accused, as the arrested person used to target school going children to indulge in drugs consumption viz trade.
A case under FIR Number 239/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Satwari and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Gadigarh Police Post SI Gurupal Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Vinay Kumar.
It is pertinent to mention that four cases of NDPS Act have been registered in different police stations of Sub Division South Jammu in the past one week.
