UDHAMPUR, June 4: Udhampur Police detained another notorious drug peddler, namely Naveel Akram, son of Mohd Akram Mir, resident of Dhanoo, District Udhampur, under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
He has been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah. The detention order was issued by the competent authority and was executed today.
Meanwhile, Police team of PS Rehambal apprehended an absconder who had been evading arrest for the almost 30 years. The arrested absconder, namely Sham Lal, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Thathi Kambal Danga, Tehsil & District Udhampur, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 179/1995 U/S 341/323 RPC and FIR No. 208/1996 U/S 279/337/304-A RPC of PS Udhampur.
An arrest warrant under Section 299 CrPC had been issued by the CJM Courts Udhampur, to secure the arrest of the absconder, who had been evading judicial proceedings since 1996. Acting on the warrant, the police team arrested the absconder and will produce him before the court for further legal proceedings.
