Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT NDPS

RAMBAN, Oct 20: A notorious drug peddler was today booked under PIT NDPS Act by Ramban Police.
“A team of Polcie Station Ramban led by Inspector Sandeep Charak (SHO Ramban) under the supervision of Pardeep Singh Sen Deputy SP HQ Ramban apprehended one notorious drug peddler namely Mohd Younis son of Abdul Salam, resident of Ward Number 1 Ramban and sent him to District Jail Udhampur,” a police spokesman said.
He said in PIT NDPS Act, a person can be put under preventive detention for a year without bail akin to Public Safety Act (PSA), but is focused on criminals indulged in drug peddling. “The Accused was previously booked in a case FIR Number 33/2019 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Banihal, FIR Number 124/2021 u/s 8/20/29 NDPS Act of Police Station Banihal and FIR Number 320/2022 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Ramban,” the officer added.
The spokesman said the detention warrant under Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) was obtained against him from Divisional Commissioner Jammu in order to prevent him from further criminal activities primarily into drugs. “The subject is a hard core criminal and is involved in a number of narcotic cases. The warrant is executed today and accused has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur,” he added.
